Mal wieder ich...Me again...
Neues aus dem Westen...der Fruehling ist da, aber kalt ist es noch...wie macht ihr das nur, keinen Winter, keinen Fruehling???? Nichtsdestotrotz nutzte ich dieses Wochenende endlich mal um meine Nachbarschaft zu erkunden, nach fast einem halben Jahr wurde es ja nun auch langsam Zeit. Hier ein paar Bildchen von meiner Tour:
Abends gings dann zum Abschiedsessen fuer Petri nach New Westminster in ein deutsches Restaurant, das 'Old Bavaria House'. Petri flog gestern fuer fuenf Wochen nach Finnland...wir vermissen ihn ;-)
Auf jeden Fall genossen wir den Abend. Das Restaurant war so richtig urig eingerichtet und gleiches galt fuer die Gaeste...unser Tisch war mit Abstand der juengste...aber das hat der Authenzitaet ja nur gutgetan...ebenso wie unsere Bedienung, Anja aus Koblenz...
Ich hatte Rindsrouladen mit Spaetzle und Rotkohl. War ganz lecker wobei eigentlich Schnitzel die Spezialitaet des Hauses sind. Aber die kann ich mir dann auch selber machen, gell...ganz geil war die Schwarzwaelder Kirschtorte am Ende. Extrem lecker und nicht so suess wie die aus dem Supermarkt, nur leider auch ohne Alkohol :-(
Kontrastprogramm zu Freitag mit excellentem Sushi und Eishockey in Yaletown (dem Yuppie Teil Downtowns). Sorry fuer die Zeitspruenge...die Canucks sind auf jeden Fall noch immer im Playoff fuer den Stanley Cup. Heute gabs Trickots bei Wal-Mart fuer 30 Dollar. Ob das schon ein Ausverkauf ist???? Im Moment steht es 1:2 nach Spielen fuer die Anaheim Ducks (frueher Mighty Ducks fuer die, die es schon mal gehoert haben). Vier Spiele muessen gewonnen werden...mittlerweile bin ich auch zu einem kleinen Hockeyexperten geworden. Es laesst einen doch nicht kalt, zumindest mich...die ganze Stadt ist begeistert und das steckt einfach an. Aber wird wohl eh bald vorbei sein. Die Ducks scheinen doch ne Nummer zu gross fuer die Canucks, aber druecke dennoch die Daumen.
Und ganz geil, seit letzten Montag laeuft wieder 'Heroes'. Hab natuerlich die erste Folge verpasst...aber zum Glueck gibts ja das Internet...Montagabend ist jetzt 'Heroes'-Time...
Und worauf ich mich ganz besonders freu...Urlaub im August...Fluege sind gebucht, jetzt fehlen noch die Autos und auf gehts durch Kalifornien und Kanada...ob sich meine Brueder freuen? ;-)
After half a year I finally went out for a walk to explore my 'new' neighborhood. It was such a lovely weekend, found some nice trails and a very good gelato place on North Road...I took a couple of pictures (see above).
In the evening we went to the 'Old Bavaria House' in New West as a fairwell to Petri. He left for five weeks to Finland...we miss him ;-)
The restaurant was very authentic from the menu and the decoration to the guests...I think we were by far the youngest table (and I was the youngest with 28 lol), right guys? I had some very good Rindsrouladen (there is no translation possible), Spaetzle (egg-noodles) and red cabbage. I enjoyed it and much more so the black forest cake as dessert. Much, much better then the one from Safeway ;-) But without alcohol as well :-(
In contrast on Friday I enjoyed late but excellent Sushi dinner in Yaletown and the rest of the Hockey game in the neighboring Yaletown brewery together with Christiane and her friends. I started to follow the hockey a little...I mean you can't really avoid it here, right? So I hope they win but I think they don't. The ducks are to good...
Finally 'Heroes' started to the season's final...of course I missed the first episode, just need to get used to it again. It's good, really good...just came back from the TV...the only show I watch regularly...and can't wait till Battlestar 3 is out on DVD but till then 'Heroes'...
Currently I'm planning my trip to California and Canada with my brothers...kind of unplanned but all will be good...we have the flights and soon the cars. Just a couple of more months...

Hi Andy! We really skiped winter an spring this year. I started the grill-season in january and hat the 10th barbecue today. Nice neighborhood by the way! And "black forest cake" sounds absolutly awful in english ;-) Next week I am on a karate seminar in Mallorca. I prmoise to email you when I am back. Yours MC and Big G in Habbeltown
